RE: SATELLITE RED DOOR – WORCESTER
Dear Mr Paulse
Thank you for your interest – and congratulations on your commitment – in wanting to uplift entrepreneurs in Worcester. I’m pleased to inform you that the Department of Economic Development and Tourism has agreed to partner your municipality in establishing a satellite RED Door in the town.
Our implementation agent, Casidra, a partner in the RED initiative, will facilitate the process on our behalf. To this end, we will enter into a three-year agreement with Casidra to enable it to make resources available for the launch of the satellite RED Door.
We accept that branding will be the prerogative of the Breede Valley Municipality. And we would like to confirm that the new satellite office will operate as an extension of the Paarl RED Door – to simplify management and reporting processes. We acknowledge that the costs of running the office will be shared between the Department and the municipality.
We believe that this agreement will enable the municipality to contribute directly to programmes and projects that will benefit the Worcester community.
We have calculated that the initial cost to the municipality for the renovation of the host building, telecommunications (including the setting up of an internal database), signage, furniture; computers, initial recruitment costs and security will be between R190,000 – R250,000.
The Department will cover the daily operating costs of the office for the current financial year.
Final details of this agreement will be set out in a Memorandum of Agreement between the municipality and Casidra.
I trust that the Breede Valley Municipality will support this proposal when it comes up for discussion at council level.
